Our filmmaking team makes us uniquely suited to tell this story.

Our core creative group includes perspectives from all sides of the intercultural mixture our film depicts: Rachel Cantave (producer) is a Haitian-American anthropologist and Haitian Creole speaker who has done extensive field work in Brazil; Abraham Ávila (producer) is a Tijuana-based filmmaker whose deep network of connections in his home city has allowed us incredible access; and Sam Ellison (director) is a U.S.-based filmmaker with deep experience in narrative cinematography and a documentary education from Harvard and Stanford.  Nora Mendis, Kyle Martin, and Kim Parker (producers) bring additional indie cinema knowledge and an array of credits on successful documentary and fiction features.  The combination of talents and personalities in our small crew has opened doors for us that would certainly have been closed to other productions.
